As Central Texas continues to evolve rapidly, the communities of East Williamson, Milam, Lee, Burleson, and Bastrop counties are navigating a critical moment in growth, infrastructure planning, and public policy. The Taylor Chamber’s annual Growth Symposium returns this fall with a new format and a fresh focus on the infrastructure and legislative insights shaping the future of our region.
This year’s theme—Infrastructure, Influence & Insight—brings together public sector leaders, infrastructure experts, and seasoned political voices to provide a practical understanding of where things stand and where they’re headed.
We’ll kick things off with coffee, pastries, and networking at 8:30 a.m., followed by a morning of presentations and discussion.
9:10 a.m. – ERCOTGilbert Hughes – Vice President of Public Affairs at ERCOT, with 40+ years in the electric utility industry and deep expertise in Texas public policy, will share updates on regional power infrastructure and future energy planning.
9:40 a.m. – Texas Water Development BoardA look at water resources and resilience, including regional implications, with a representative such as Jonathan Mathers (invited).
10:15 a.m. – Texas Municipal LeagueTML’s Mike Martin will offer a perspective on municipal challenges and opportunities amid population growth.
10:50 a.m. – TxDOTMegan Dutton – Director of Advance Project Development at TxDOT Austin District, overseeing planning across 11 Central Texas counties. will address regional transportation projects and long-range mobility plans.
11:20 a.m. – Lunch Served
11:40 a.m. – Fireside Chat: Politics & PolicyJesse Ancira and AJ Bingham—two seasoned lobbyists and policy insiders—will reflect on the recent legislative session and what it means for communities like ours. This engaging, informal conversation is sure to be both informative and entertaining.
12:20 p.m. – Housing PanelA dynamic discussion on local housing development—covering availability, affordability, and sustainability—featuring panelists Russ Boles, Williamson County Commissioner (Precinct 4), and Diana Phillips, Chair of the Greater Taylor Foundation and past Chair of the Taylor Chamber. With their combined expertise in infrastructure, economic growth, nonprofit leadership, and community impact, this session will offer valuable insights, along with opportunities for sponsor participation.
